A court in Banjul has dismissed a request made by Yankuba Touray’s Lawyer Abdoulie Sissoho, for the court to issue an arrest warrant against the Executive Secretary of the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC’s) Baba Galleh Jallow, Freedom Newspaper can report. Justice Ebrima Jaiteh issued the ruling today.
Yanks Touray, a former Junta Local government Minister, has been charged with murder. This followed his refusal to testify before the TRRC. He had been remanded in prison for the past four months.
Justice Jaiteh, in his ruling noted that the summons served on Baba Galleh Jallow was brought under the wrong criminal procedure form in third schedule of the High Court rules. He also ruled that the state prosecutor informed the court inhis counter submission against the Defense Lawyer that the TRRC had an official in court at the time in question.
Consequently, the Defense request for the court to order for the arrest of Baba Galleh Jallow was rejected. The case has been adjourned to November 18th.
