Government workers currently touring the country with Adama Barrow are going to see an increment on their daily night allowance, Freedom Newspaper can reveal. Workers would henceforth be paid two thousand dalasis (D2,000) with effect from November 1st, according to a Memo signed by one Musa Camara, an official of the Barrow government. Traveling officers used to be paid six hundred and fifty dalasis (D650.00) night allowances during their trips to the countryside.
“This allowance is granted to an officer travelling on duty within The Gambia. However, in line with administrative precedents, traveling night allowance should not be paid for a period exceeding fourteen nights (14),” Camara stated.
The average government worker is going to earn twenty-eight thousand dalasis (D28,000) during the Barrow’s meet the farmers tour, when sectors such as healthcare, education, and the economy are on the verge of collapsing. Some political analysts believed that the night allowance increment was done to galvanize crowd from government workers so that they can accompany the ignoramus failed Adama Barrow.
“Adama Barrow has no serious economic plan for this country. He is now resorting to buying crowds. The majority of the folks following him are government workers. They were attracted to the tour because of the recent increment on night allowances. It is sad that this jester is abusing our ailing economy. He would soon collapse our economy,” warns one analyst.
