After waiting for nearly two years to take up his Diplomatic posting, the former army Chief of Defense Staff Ousman Badjie has been assigned to China, as a Defense attache, Freedom Newspaper can authoritatively report. Badjie, who played a crucial role in dozing off the tensions during Gambia’s 2016 post elections dispute, is now a full time staffer of Gambia’s Foreign Service.
Badjie was initially lined up to serve in Cuba, but for some unknown reasons, he was never sent there. He had been on the Foreign Ministry’s waiting list for over two years.
Widely known as “stress free” former CDS, Badjie is going to be in charge of the nation’s Defense issues at The Gambian Embassy in China. He is expected to leave Banjul soon to report to his Diplomatic post.
Badjie could not be reached for immediate comment at the time of filing this report.
Foreign Ministry Communication Officer Saikou Ceesay was contacted for comment, but he asked to be given time until Tuesday, when he would be able to shed light on the story.
