The Board Chairman at Gambia’s Food Safety and Quality Authority has resigned, Freedom Newspaper can reveal. Badara Loum tendered his resignation letter on Friday January 7, 2020. Loum wasn’t happy with the way the management of the Food Safety handles in the institution. He felt being marginalized and alienated in the execution of his duties as Board Chairman.
Some staffers of the Food Safety were recently fired and some suspended without the Board’s approval. The Board was never contacted before the arrival of such a decision by the management headed by Zainab Jallow.
Mrs. Jallow has been accused by the fired staffers of abuse of office, discrimination, favoritism among other charges. She has denied the allegations, according to insiders.
