Writing to us via Facebook, Lamin Jaiteh, an airline operator said: “Good evening Pa, please I have some clarification that I want to make through your media, as you are a very reputable media house that people rely on for accurate news. There is a complex picture circulating on social media purporting to belong to the Gambian first Lady Fatou Bah Bartow. The said complex belongs to a Sarahuleh guy in the US, which has just been completed.  I am the Managing Director of the complex and full operation have not begun yet. It is a holiday home, two- and three-bedroom apartments for rent. The place is called SAWANEH SUITES.”

According to Mr. Jaiteh, the property in question was built by Amadou Giggo of the Giggo Construction. He added that it is an outright lie for anyone to suggest that the property belongs to the First Lady Fatoumatta Bah Barrow.

Jaiteh went further to give us a background information about Muhammed Sawaneh’s property estates in The Gambia. He clarified that he was the one, who introduced Mr. Sawaneh to President Barrow, prior to Barrow becoming a President. Barrow used to collect Sawaneh’s rent prior to becoming a President, he said.

“I introduced him to Adama Barrow. This was well before Adama became a President. I used to work with Adama at M and C gas company, the company of the late Musa Njie. Adama’s company used to collect rent for Mr. Sawaneh. Adama was managing his properties for him prior to becoming a President. Mr. Sawaneh later hired me to manage his new property for him. The said property was never managed by Adama Barrow,” Jaiteh clarified.

“There is a restaurant and a gym in that new property. Four stores have already been rented out,” he added.
