The Executive Director of the Africa Center for International Law and Accountability (ACILA), William Nyarko, has commended Gambian authorities for standing firm on their grounds.
“Gambia must be commended for calling out the US and asking that the sanctions be reversed. This is a call that the African Union should have made earlier and led the way,” campaigner William Nyarko told this medium in an exclusive interview.
The tiny West African nation was quick to respond to US Dept of State’s décision to level some sanctions against the ICC Chief Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda and one of her top aides. The Gambia unequivocally urged US to reverse the decision despite Mike Pompeo’s threat to go after any individual or organisation that would support the ICC duo.
