President Adama Barrow is not leaving office anytime soon, he is here to say for years to come, Presidential Adviser Saihou Mballow said. Mballow says the opposition United Democratic Party (UDP) should brace up to continue to serve as an opposition to the current government because according to him, President Barrow isn’t going anywhere. He says Barrow is going to win the 2021 elections. Mballow was speaking in an interview with Freedom radio Gambia.
“President Barrow is widely loved and cherished by Gambians. He is here to stay. He has the full support of The Gambian people. I can tell you that he is going to win the 2021 elections. Victory is guaranteed for President Barrow,” he said.
According to Mballow, the UDP is a virtual dead party. He said the emergence of the National People’s Party (NPP) has ended UDP’s prospects of ascending to the Presidency anytime soon.
“The NPP is a grassroots party. It has the biggest following in the country. The UDP is not NPP’s match. We got more people behind us,” he added.
When asked how confident was he that the NPP would win the upcoming Niamina West byelections, Mballow said there is no doubt in his mind that the NPP would capture the vacant seat.
“We are going to win the Niamina West constituency seat. If the UDP wants, it can team up with the GDC, but that wouldn’t save them. Victory is ours. We are going win that seat,” Mballow remarked.
