Bad news for the Canadian company—Electoral Services International (ESI), as Gambia’s Public Procurement Authority Agency (GPPA) wouldn’t award the IEC election material supplies to their company, Freedom Newspaper can reveal. The GPPA this past week decided that ESI wasn’t the most responsive company that could execute the IEC election materials supply contract. This followed the IEC’s recommendation for the Canadian company to be awarded the $3million dollars contract.
According to competent sources, the GPPA has sent the ESI bidding file to the IEC to reevaluate and justify as to why the electoral commission thought that ESI was the most responsive bidder. In other words, GPPA wants to know why the IEC has decided to choose ESI to execute the contract.
The following companies bidded for the contract:
DERMALOG (German Company)
-EKEMP INTERNATIONAL (Chinese Company). The company was represented by the Unique Solution company guys at the bidding.
-ELECTORAL SOLUTIONS international (Canadian Company)
Smart Business Group(A Gambian owned company)
The IEC is a former ESI client. ESI’s parent company had business with the IEC during Jammeh’s rule. The company later went into bankruptcy. It reemerged with a new name ESI.
