There has been a minor movement within the police, as some top echelon of the force have been transferred with immediate effect, Freedom Newspaper can reveal. The Commissioner of Operations at the police Headquarters Pateh Jallow has been moved to the West Coast Region as officer commanding West Coast. Mr. Jallow has been replaced by Famara Jallow, a veteran police chief. Famara is the most senior police commissioner in the police force. He is the new Commissioner of operations.
At the Serious Crime Unit, the officer commanding there, Chief Superintendent Boto Keita, has been moved to the Kanifing Division as a Deputy Crime Management Coordinator. Keita’s new position is some kind of a demotion–given the high profile unit he was heading in Banjul.
Mr. Keita has been heading the serious crime unit for over a decade. His name has been popping up at the TRRC proceedings, as one of the officers, who used to take part in the panels that were set up at the NIA during Jammeh’s rule.
Mr. Keita has been replaced by Pa Alieu Jawara. Pa Jawara used to live in the Untied Kingdom. He recently returned home. He has been reabsorbed into the police.
The AIG of police Operations Landing Bojang is said to be sick. He is currently out of work.
