Gambia seizes more two tons of cocaine

Gambian anti-narcotic officers have seized two tons of cocaine. One individual has been arrested and he is helping the police in their investigations.

The cocaine was found in a shipment that came from South America.

The drug and law enforcement agency of The Gambia (DELAG) convened a press conference on Friday to brief the nation on the major drug seizure.

A spokesman of the agency has reaffirmed his unit’s commitment to combating narcotics trafficking. He said the drugs were seized following a joint security operation.

The Gambia is at the risk of becoming a drug transition point.  Just few weeks ago, more than 500 kilograms of Moroccan hashish was seized from drug traffickers. That case has led to the arrest of some drug traffickers.  One of the accused persons is at large. He is a Gambian French national.
