The Deputy Mayor of the Kanifing Municipal Council Pa Musa Bah has resigned from the Council, while citing family reasons, Freedom Newspaper can authoritatively report. Mr. Bah’s resignation followed Freedom Newspaper publication in which the Deputy Mayor was caught on tape soliciting one million dalasis bribe from Gaston Francis the co-owner of the Ecowtech company, a charge the company owner Farimang Manneh denied.

In a letter dated July 23rnd Deputy Mayor Pa Musa Bah, informed the council that he had resigned because of family reasons. The Deputy Mayor said he lost four family members recently and as such he wouldn’t be able to execute his duties; hence he has decided to step down.

Bah said he has suffered four bereavement in his family. One of them is his mum.

Bah hasn’t been criminally charged.

Pa Musa Bah has been replaced by Binta Janneh Jallow, the Councilor for Bakau.

In another development, there are conflicting reports about the purported resignation of the KMC CEO Sainabou Martin Sonko. She hasn’t resigned as earlier reported in an earlier publication.  She refused to resign despite council’s repeated request for her step down.

Meanwhile, Council has recommended for her dismissal from the Council. Her case has been forwarded to the Ministry of Local Government and Lands.
