TABLING ASAP BILL NOW WITHOUT A MINI BUDGET IS AN ABERRATION
our cowboy finance minister is at it again. Doing what he is good at- sluicing our tax revenues to benefit the political ambition of the president. No wonder he’s described by Barrow as loyal.
Instead of telling Gambians, through the lawmakers, how much have been spent thus far from the approved budget of 2021, he is shamelessly looking for additional funding of ill-conceived projects, wasteful spending on misplaced priorities, and unsubstantiated expenditures on electioneering.
The current debt levels of the country is scaring and instead of working assiduously to curtail the staggering debt servicing of over 500milion every month which is negatively impacting the widening budget deficit, our cowboy finance minister keeps adding more debts to an already a debt distress economy. Lawmakers must demand a statement of what has been spent so far against the budget that was approved for 2021 before even considering the supplementary appropriation tabled before them. If they are truly representing the interests of all Gambians.
It is unconstitutional to present SAP bill in the middle of the year without the required mini budget from the minister. Our democracy continues to be undermined by unscrupulous and incompetent minister. He is neither a qualified accountant nor a competent finance expert. He is only good at sluicing and cover up. How many SAP bills have been passed under him?
