NO BIG CROWD IN BANJUL TO SEE OFF PRESIDENT BARROW: IS PRESIDENT BARROW AWARE? BARRA FERRY DELAYED FOR THREE HOURS TO PULL CROWD FOR BARROW!
Is the Essa Faal factor hurting President Barrow’s crowd pulling and political future? President Barrow left Banjul, the seat of power on Monday, for his meet the farmers’ tour, but shockingly the crowd that saw him off wasn’t huge compared to his previous trips.
Going through the pro Barrow media platforms on social media, particularly Facebook, there was no video posted on Barrow’s Banjul departure. The State media GTRS did not either show any video on Barrow’s departure in their Monday evening broadcast. It only aired the new ambulances that have been secured by the government.
It is also important to note that the ferry services in Barra were grounded for three hours. Travelers who were waiting to board the ferry, were compelled to wait for hours just for Barrow’s delegation to be ferried.
One observer has noted that the ferry shutdown was a trick to help Barrow pull crowd on the other side of ferry terminal in Barra, northern Gambia.
The observer’s observation indeed made sense. The ferry shutdown had helped Barrow to pull crowd upon arrival in Barra.
The waiting travelers were filmed by his media team to falsely imply that they were there to welcome the President. When in reality, these were travelers, who were forced to wait for the President’s arrival.
It was at this time that the Barrow media team had started posting videos on their social media timelines. Banjul was not covered. This was largely because of the small crowd that accompanied Barrow.
President Barrow’s political surrogates should be honest with him. A lot of work needs to be done to facilitate his reelection. Crowd renting is not a recipe for an electoral victory.
Mr. President, please ask your team to tell you why your Banjul departure wasn’t televised or shown on social media. There is something that they are hiding from you.
December 4th, 2021, is around the corner. Don’t let them fool you! Your predecessor Jammeh was fooled the same way.
